Google-Apple Rivalry

These days we've been listening a lot about Apple-Google bitter terms. The biggest of the news is the replacement of Google search engine by Bing (Microsoft). If Bing come on iPhone, a lot in the web industry may change. That apart, there's some issue between Google and Apple about patent rights.

I did not know this until I saw this little post on iphonehelp talking about the touch screen trouble between Apple and Google. I had believed it was search engine that was leading to the whole problem, but, no, there is more to only one issue.

Apple just lately had asked Google to keep touch screen out of Nexus One. One would question why Apple doesn't file a lawsuit rather than sending out requests to Google to not incorporate touch screen feature in its first cell phone attempt. To tell the truth Apple has no option other than requesting- the patent rights of touch screen aren't quite strong. So even if Apple files a case against a manufacturer, there are good chances that Apple will suffer a loss.

There has by now been good amount of conflict between Apple and Google - remember the most recent one on Google Voice on iPhone? Apple had not allowedthis app to be used on iPhone. (Read the complete account here: GV Mobile Out on Cydia Gets Google Voice on iPhone) The problems between the two big wigs are very clear even if they deny accepting it.

This time it is a bit difficult to foresee anything as the two greatest tech enterprises are involved in it. In the past they have also had troubles around Chrome OS. Now some legal matters over touch screen application.  Let’s see what the end result would be like. Definitely not a positive one (with Google in the cell phone trade, things will only worsen.)
